HESCO is a cooperative operation specializing in procuring and distributing agricultural production materials in North America. HESCO hired Smartsourcing Global to reengineer its Trailer Tracker application, a logistics solution designed to improve the efficiency of their supply chain through on-demand delivery and tracking of trailer-sized loads.

The current version was unwieldy, inefficient and lacked logical navigation and clear communication of its purpose. The application doesn't fulfill business requirements and is not user friendly. This caused internal HESCO staff and their customers to not using this for their day to day operations.

HESCO needed a reliable technology partner to completely own the development efforts, and work in collaboration with the business team. HESCO's requirement was to hire a team who can understand the business, workflow, challenges and develop a system that improves efficiency and automates the workflow.

After a series of discussions and analysis of two different versions of Trailer Tracker, we arrived at a comprehensive list of requirements. We developed technical architecture and chose technologies keeping long term vision of HESCO's business and considering other internal applications used by various departments of the company.

Our team analyzed the requirements and added value every step of the way by refining requirements and choosing the right technical solutions to meet both short term and long term goals.. Smartsourcing Global provided end-to-end technical support, beginning with decisions on technology and tools, software architecture, engaging the right resources on the project as well as project management, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance. A robust platform was built to comfortably allow for scalability and future enhancements.

Continuous communication, exchange of ideas, demos at various stages of the project and User testing were some of the methodologies which made this project a success.

Trailer Tracker application was developed to fulfill HESCO's business needs and users have accepted the application and application is live since May 2009.

The application was delivered on-time, within budget, with rich UI features, and a robust platform.

Attesting to the success of collaborative relation, HESCO has offered to work with Smartsourcing Global on next phases of Trailer Tracker and many other projects. We continue to build features for Trailer Tracker.
